Through USAID’s MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity Consortium, the PATH DRC office was awarded funds in 2020 to conduct an assessment of the major challenges and bottlenecks to routine immunization at the subnational levels. These findings informed the development of a workplan to implement strategies that focus on putting people at the center while introducing and testing targeted interventions to foster resilient systems and communities, engage local partners, and improve quality and use of data. The overall goal of M-RITE is to support DRC’s Ministry of Health to improve the equitable coverage of childhood vaccines and reach zero-dose children and missed communities.

Contexte et mission :

Main responsibilities   will include :

  • Support the development and monitoring of health zone-level microplans, taking into account relevant equity and gender considerations with respect to identifying and reaching zero-dose children in the aires de sante.
  • Provide ongoing supportive supervision visits to managers and health care workers at zonal and aire de sante levels to support the implementation of microplans and other PEV activities
  • Support the implementation of capacity building strategies and supportive supervision in program planning and implementation, incorporating equity and gender approaches, in the aires de sante. Facilitate capacity building using training, workshops, mentoring, supervision, and facilitate peer-learning networks on WhatsApp
  • Build coalitions and provide technical guidance to private clinics that could offer vaccination services, and build public-private collaborations to increase the supply of vaccines and other resources in private facilities.
  • Support the annual enumeration of PEV targets by the community relais in the aires de sante prior to microplanning
  • Lead efforts to engage communities and male family members in supporting vaccination
  • Support the organization of monthly immunization performance review meetings in the PEV antennes together with the M-RITE MEL Officer
  • Collaborate with project administrators (PADM) and project leadership to ensure that the project meet all reports and milestones requirements.
  • Contribute to the elaboration of technical reports and other publications.
  • Represent M-RITE in meetings and other events related to the project (if needed).

Profil recherché :

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated success in planning, coordinating, and overseeing immunization services at the provincial and health zone-levels.
  • Strong understanding of indicators and immunization programming in DRC
  • Strong understanding of challenges facing DRC’s immunization program, including those related to financing, supply, data, service quality, access, and demand.
  • Proven ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with government personnel, NGO partners, and international organizations in the field.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage challenging situations in a difficult political environment.
  • Strong communication skills particularly at the DPS, health zones and community levels.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience working in geographically dispersed teams and a multi-cultural environment.
  • Knowledge of donor rules, in particular the USAID processes
  • Fluency in French and local dialects required; fluency in English is a plus.

Required Experience:

  • Master’s Degree or other advance degree in Medicine or public health.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience providing technical support to immunization programming.
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity working in provinces (DPS) and health zones.

Work requirements:

  • Must live in Haut Katanga or Kasai Oriental
  • Willing to travel to antennes within each province up to 50%


Must have legal authorization to work in DRC
