VillageReach is seeking a Provincial Coordinator I, who will direct and oversee the implementation of VillageReach immunization activities in the Sankuru and Mai-Ndombe Provinces. He/she will work closely with the Provincial team, and the technical groups involved in the implementation of activities. He/she will work seamlessly with local partners and work closely with DRC-based VillageReach staff in Kinshasa, as well as with headquarters staff in the United States.

The Provincial Coordinator will arrange technical meetings with the Program Manager and will be required to attend a weekly meeting for the entire VillageReach technical team. This position will be based in Lodja (Sankuru) and Inongo (Mai-Ndombe) and will be overseen by VillageReach Country Director in DRC.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.

  • Support the implementation of Mashako Plan in Sankuru and Mai-Ndombe and contribute to the improvement of its key indicators.
  • Monitor the status of Mashako Plan implementation, identify constraints and opportunities, and submit strategies to address constraints and other challenges.
  • Integrate formative supervision into Supplemental Immunization Activities (ASI) in the low immunization coverage areas.
  • Implementation of a streamlined plan for Supplemental Immunization Activities (ASI) integrated into formative supervision.
  • Supervise distribution activities, logistic data collection and analysis for decision-making, and key indicators to measure supply chain performance.
  • Present the results to the DPS and other stakeholders and support the DPS in the use of indicators to identify causes of underperformance and develop solutions for continuous improvement.
  • Produce a monthly report and a distribution report.
  • Represent VillageReach in Sankuru and Mai-Ndombe at working group meetings and other forums, to ensure effective coordination between different parties and institutions and to identify new opportunities for collaboration.
  • Build strong collaboration with DPS, CDR, SZs and local DPS Sankuru and Mai-Ndombe partners.
  • Manage human resources and coordinate the Provincial team of the VillageReach office.
  • Develop and establish the monthly budget for the activities as well as for the operation of the Sankuru and Mai-Ndombe office.
  • Develop a vaccine distribution plan.
  • Prepare distributions with CDR, DPS and EPI.
  • Convene the distribution committee after each distribution.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, particularly in the transfer of knowledge and skills to public health workers at the provincial level.
  • Solid experience and knowledge of health program management.
  • Strong ability to plan, analyze, evaluate and manage the project.
  • Proven experience in using data and analysis for project management.
  • Proven experience in writing a written report
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Have the ability to travel within Sankuru province, Kinshasa or wherever the mission is needed.
  • Excellent command of French and English languages in reading, writing and oral communication.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of primary health care.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Education & Experience:

The candidate must have a degree in public health, supply chain of health products or other relevant fields. He/she must have at least 5 years of experience in the field of supply chain management of vaccines and other health products with experience working with international NGOs.

Other Qualifications:

  • Established cultural competency in partnering with racial, cultural and linguistically diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated understanding of challenges with working in rural, underserved and low-income context; experience living in and/or working in a low-income country a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and comfortable in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Mastery of the local language is a plus.
  • Previous experience in Sankuru or Mai-Ndombe is a plus

Environment and Physical Demands

VillageReach has no private offices, employees work in a shared, open environment with task and conference rooms accessible to employees for privacy and meetings. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Due to the time zone differences between our Seattle office and our Country Offices and location of other global staff, US based staff are expected to be available for early morning meetings starting at 6am. In addition, our global HQ and Country office staff are expected to be available for late afternoon/evening meetings up to 6pm.
